Best In Vancouver: The Echos

Hammer Records will be conducting interviews with as many bands from the "Best In Vancouver" contest as we can get a hold of. First off is The Echos, a folk/pop duo.

James: How did you find out about "Best In Vancouver"?

The Echos: We heard about BIV from the show promoter Kevin Schallie after our first gig at Studio Records. He told us to try out for this competition because he thought we'd be a good fit and so we did! And we're glad we did!

James: What sets you apart from other bands?

The Echos: We think what sets us apart from the other bands is the fact that we sing mostly with really cool harmonies that we've blended really well, as well as writing really catchy melodies!

James: Do you have anything special for your show planned?

The Echos: Normally the two of us perform as an acoustic duo, so I think the special thing we're bringing to this particular live show is that we'll have some good friends and musicians backing us up on electric guitar, bass, drums, and keys to give us a bit more of a rock edge! It's going to be really fun for us and the crowd!

James: What do you think about battle of the bands competitions and how they influence the scene?

The EchosWe think they're a really good way to make connections in the scene! Getting your name out there and getting people to come to shows is important and part of that is meeting other talented bands that you could play more shows with in the future! So battle of the band competitions are really great for that! Plus we just love to see the other talent that's out there, there's nothing better than watching other musicians do what they love because it's amazing to see and we relate to that feeling so much!
