#CMW Artist Showcase - Elle Exxe

Pop stars have some of the hardest times getting known. Putting on a show as a pop star means production, lights, anything to fill the stage. Some performers are born stars and can fill any stage with just themselves. Elle Exxe is coming to Canadian Music Week to bring down the roof! We chatted with Elle Exxe about her upcoming performance.

Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?
Elle Exxe: Avril Lavigne - her album was one of the first I ever bought as a kid. Alessia Cara's been my latest Canadian obsession. Alanis Morisette! The Weeknd. Grimes. Justin Bieber. Tegan and Sara - I love them! I'm so happy they're playing CMW, hope I can catch their set. 

Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?
Elle Exxe: My manager Umong Shah had been out there last year and loved it so much he insisted we had to make it happen - so we just set our sights on it and made it happen! 

Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?
Elle Exxe: Of course! I'm thinking of covering my band in maple syrup and adding a little cannibalism to the set. But in all seriousness, the band and I take huge pride in making each show better than the last and we work our asses off in rehearsal to ensure we exxterminate (sic) every single show; Canada will be extra special because it's our first international showcase so we'll be bringing an extra bucket of energy and love to it. 

Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?
Elle Exxe: I love using oxymorons and contradiction in artistic ways to highlight and open discussions about what we can do to make the world better. My EP and album are about love and hate but my message to everyone listening is to work harder to love and care for each other. If we do that we can do anything.

Elle Exxe: Album, short film, tour, clothing, everything! The album will be a big milestone for me; I can't wait to share it with the world.
