CBC Searchlight - Charlotte Wrinch

Charlotte Wrinch wants to spread her music and lyrics that tell a story while still being herself. Playing many festivals and events on the Sunshine Coast, shes also had regular airplay on local radio. We spoke with Charlotte about her entry into the CBC Spotlight Challenge.

Hammer Records: Is this the first time you’ve entered into the CBC Spotlight Contest?
Charlotte: Yes.

Hammer Records: Which of the prizes are you most excited about?
Charlotte: I'm most excited about the grande prize, silly.

Hammer Records: How would you describe your music to a brand new listener?
Charlotte: 60s or 70s folk with some weird influences.

Hammer Records: What made you pick the piece of music/video to enter?
Charlotte: It's the title track of my latest studio album Kiss The Ground.

Hammer Records: If you could send a message to the judges, what would it be?
Charlotte: I was once judged a "Battle of the Bands" series here in our community (Gibsons, BC on the Sunshine Coast). I really didn't like doing it. Every single person that "competed" were amazing in their own individual way. There are so many talented, passionate, thoughtful people who chose to wear the name musician, and declaring a winner amongst a group of them is a strange and difficult thing. How can one rank honesty? How can one rank the desire and willingness to create? All music has Value. All music has it's Zeitgeist.
